Baseball fans even remotely old enough to remember some glimmer of the Great Debates between Senator John F. Kennedy and Vice President Richard Nixon probably have a vivid recollection of that giddy moment in mid-October that year when a jubilant Bill Mazeroski launched a ninth-inning homer run over the wall at Forbes Field and nicely put the finishing touch on perhaps the greatest sports moment in club history. Handling that kind of historical responsibility would seem to be a challenge but one nicely addressed with this royal triumvirate: a pristine (and yet neatly scored) 1960 Pirates World Series Program a similarly handsome ticket stub from the game and a full and virtually untouched Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newspaper from the next day detailing the moment itself and providing at least 15 sidebar stories or photo features inside including one describing the Yankees as some sort of unhappy. See they had a pretty well-honed knack for understatement way back when. As noted the program is essentially as-issued and problem free and is neatly scored in pen inside by its original owner with the attendance recorded and a couple of asterisks place alongside the column entry for Mazs home run. Ticket stub is a perfect match essentially Ex-Mt and the newspaper would get a similar evaluation even with a whisper of the inevitable light chipping on some of the edges. This is the museum-worthy trifecta for a serious Pirates fan.
