Most debates pertaining to the greatness of Willie Mays do not concern his ranking among baseballs premier players but whether or not he was the single greatest player of all time. This block-lettered Hillerich & Bradsby W173 served the Say Hey Kid dutifully during the first half of his Hall of Fame career. Coated with ball and stitch marks and bearing an expertly repaired crack high on the handle the bat shows outstanding usage traits overall. Green streaks of paint at the barrel and knob are attributable to contact with a bat rack though some other negligible paint stains appear to have no attribution to game use. A small mounting hole at the knob is equally innocuous. Length and weight of 35 inches and 33 ounces perfectly match ordering records for this 1959-60 model. Considering that Mays retired with 660 home runs its fair to assume that a bat such as this that saw regular service must have launched at least one.

Includes a LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (Graded GU8).
