The team catalyst for the Go-Go Sox and throughout his career second baseman Nellie Fox made his presence felt on so many levels. Small in stature at just 5-foot-9 150 pounds Fox was a steadyif not spectaculardefensive player. And while he didn't appear menacing at the plate Fox was trouble personified every time he strode to the dish. The toughest man to fan in 12 different seasons (including an incredible 11 years consecutively) the pesky Hall of Famer also paced the circuit in singles eight times. Offered here is a bat ably employed by the scrappy infielder during his glory days at Comiskey Park specifically the 1958 season that saw him lead the league in hits with 187.

The Hillerich & Bradsby model C12 Nellie Fox professional model bat features labeling and other specifications that pinpoint its origin to 1958 per factory records. It exhibits outstanding use with a handle crack extending into the center brand. Numerous ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the right barrel. Green bat rack marks are visible on the left front back barrel and handle. Cleat impressions can be seen on the left front and back barrel. There is a heavy coat of gripping substance on the handle which also sports a single tape ring on the lower section. The model number (C12) is stamped into the knob and 'Fox' appears on the knob in vintage marker. Under 'Fox' is another notation that is illegible. This terrific combination of usage traits indicate this surely was one of little Nellie's favorites! Furthermore it was employed in one of his more prolific statistical seasons one year before he would lead the Sox to the AL Championship and win the league MVP award. Length: 35.5" Weight: 33.1 oz.

Includes a LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (GU8.5).
