The late Dick Stuart was a journeyman first baseman who played for six different teams during the course of his 10-year MLB career.  A career .264 batter, Stuart hit a total of 228 home runs. This lot features a game used bat Stuart used from 1958 to 1960 while he playing first sacker for the Pittsburgh Pirates, a period in which the Bucs took home a World Series title in 1960.

The very basic Dick Stuart Louisville Slugger H&B model bat is made of ash, measures 34.5 inches long and weighs 32.8 ounces. Its model number “R46” is engraved in the knob. While game use is evident, the bat shows some ball marks throughout the barrel and even some cleat marks at the top of the barrel. During the course of the three seasons in which Stuart used this bat he registered an even 300 hits including 66 home runs. Stuart died in 2002 at the age of 70.

Includes letter of provenance from the daughter of a longtime MLB executive whose name will be revealed to the winning bidder.
