The late Ken Boyer played 15 seasons in the major leagues from 1955 to 1969 the first 11 of which were spent competing for the St. Louis Cardinals. He posted a career batting average of .287 on his way to collecting 2143 hits including 282 home runs. A five-time Gold Glove award winner Boyer was named the National League MVP in 1964 when he led the Redbirds to the World Series title after batting .295 with 24 home runs and a league-leading 119 runs batted in.

Offered here is Boyers 1957 St. Louis Cardinals game-worn home jersey a season in which he clubbed 19 home runs and helped St. Louis to a second-place finish in the National League standings. The white flannel jersey features the team name "Cardinals" embroidered in red on the front above which is displayed the club's distinctive logo of two cardinals perched upon a yellow bat. The number 14" is appliqud on the reverse in red on navy felt. Both a Rawlings Hall of Fame Flannel label and adjacent 44 size tag appear on the left front tail. Directly below the manufacturers label chain-stitched in red is the name Ken Boyer" the year "57" and the letter "X" (indicating that this is an "extra" jersey). Located on the interior left front tail are a laundry tag and an adjacent flag tag reading "Set 1 1957." The name "Terreri" is written in black laundry marker in the collar. The fact that the jersey features Boyer's name stitched in the tail along with the "X" indicates that the club originally ordered it as an extra for him. A rare remarkable piece of game-worn baseball memorabilia earmarked for the man who would be the league's MVP in seven short seasons.
