From the Games Down Under comes this handsome 1956 Olympics U.S. team parade jacket. The 1956 Games were the first to be staged in the Southern Hemisphere as well as the first to be held outside Europe and North America. Equestrian events could not be held in Australia due to quarantine regulations making this the second Olympics not to be held entirely in one country the first being the 1920 Summer Olympics.
The blue jacket has white felt trim highlights that follow the elongated collar and adorn the pockets and sleeves. The pocket on the left breast has the U.S. Olympic shield embroidered with the five Olympic rings and a red felt backing. Inside the front left side is the A.G. Spalding tagging. Size not given but appears to be fit for a man of medium height and wider build. Jacket and buttons are intact and the jacket shows a good deal of wear including a number of small holes none of which markedly detract from the presentation.
Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Helms/LA 84 Collection.
