Featured is a 1955 Topps Baseball partial set containing 121 of the 206 cards, plus a 1956 Topps Baseball near set containing 333 out of the 340 to make it complete. Both are fresh to the hobby from a Southern California family collection.

The 1955 Topps checklist is the second smallest of any Topps baseball set behind its 1951 Red Backs debut series, and it was the first with a horizontal layout, allowing for larger player images and other details. We submitted four Hall of Famers to SGC for grading: #28 Ernie Banks – SGC FR 1.5; #31 Warren Spahn – SGC GD 2; #50 Jackie Robinson – SGC GD 2; and #198 Yogi Berra – SGC PR 1. The rest of the '55 ungraded cards appear in low-grade condition, with some crossing into mid-grade territory at VG-EX. The key rookie trio of Clemente, Koufax or Killebrew is missing, but there are several Hall of Famers and stars to help fill the voids in one's partial or near set. Upping the ante from previous dual image cards, 1956 Topps places the player’s profile picture in the foreground against a color action scene in the back. Lacking in rookie strength, this set makes up for it with one of the most attractive designs, making it a favorite among those who value aesthetics above all.
