This 1954 Larry Doby game used Hillerich & Bradsby professional model bat, stamped with the "016" model designation, dates to the season in which Doby earned MLB All-Star Game honors while patrolling center field for the Cleveland Indians, a club that would go on to win an American League-record 111 games that year. As the first Black player in American League history, Doby's on-field equipment carries significance well beyond the diamond, representing a tangible piece of the sport's integration era.

This example has been graded A9 by MEARS, the hobby's premier bat authentication service, reflecting a high level of confidence in its use by Doby along with strong physical characteristics consistent with genuine game use, including appropriate handle wear and barrel contact marks accumulated over the course of active play. The bat carries the added distinction of Doby Family provenance, having descended directly through the family of the Hall of Famer, a pedigree that provides an especially strong and direct chain of custody rarely available for bats of this vintage.

Hillerich & Bradsby bats from the early-to-mid 1950s bearing legible model stamps and star-player use are increasingly scarce, and the combination of Doby's historical importance, the MEARS A9 grade, and direct family provenance makes this a standout offering for collectors of vintage game-used bats and civil rights-era baseball history alike.
