This extraordinary artifact is the official program from the 1954 FIFA World Cup Final, contested on July 4, 1954 at Stadion Wankdorf in Bern, Switzerland — one of the most celebrated matches in football history. Known forever as "The Miracle of Bern," West Germany's stunning 3-2 defeat of the heavily favored Hungarian "Golden Team" gave West Germany its first-ever World Cup title, coming just nine years after the end of World War II and making this program a document of historic and cultural significance far beyond sport.
The program is printed in German and features the iconic tournament cover art — a stylized goalkeeper diving for a ball against a blue background, carrying the "Coupe Jules Rimet" designation — consistent with the official 1954 tournament program design. Interior pages include the official match lineup for the final (Ungarn vs. Deutschland), team photographs and profiles of both squads including legends Sándor Kocsis, Nándor Hidegkuti, and Ferenc Puskás for Hungary and Fritz Walter for West Germany, a full tournament bracket/Spieltableau, historical World Championship records going back to 1930 Montevideo, the Jules Rimet Cup and Mexico Cup trophy images, and period advertisements. A handwritten notation "Hungary v. Germany" appears on the cover. The program shows age-appropriate toning throughout but presents in solid collectible condition.
