1953 would be the year Marilyn Monroe starred in three of her best known pictures: Niagara, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and How to Marry a Millionaire. These three films showcased Monroe’s ability to star in a wide range of genres from film noir thrillers to musicals to screwball comedies. This gorgeous portrait of Monroe was taken by her studio, 20th Century Fox, to promote their rising superstar. Bedecked in pearls and bear-shouldered in a white fur, this portrait exudes Marilyn Monroe’s “pure sensuality.” This 8” x 10” Type 1 photo shows nice toning from age and the reverse in blank except for an indistinguishable pencil notation. The photo has been encapsulated and graded Type 1 Authentic by PSA/DNA.
