Waldyr Pereira — better known as Didi — was one of the most creative midfielders of the 20th century. The Brazilian maestro's stamina, deft passing, and renowned "falling leaf" (folha seca) free-kick technique helped Brazil win its first two FIFA World Cups in 1958 and '62 alongside Pelé and Garrincha. This extraordinary 1952 Brazil away jersey was match-worn and autographed by Didi, predating any of Brazil's World Cup triumphs.

Didi's club career spanned twenty seasons (1947-66) and he stayed loyal to his homeland except for a one-season stint with Real Madrid (1959/60). He spent eight years at Fluminense (91 goals in 298 matches) before starring alongside Garrincha and Zagallo for Botafogo. In his 1952-62 national team tenure with Seleção (1952-62), Didi played in three World Cups and tallied 20 goals in 68 caps.

This short-sleeved jersey made of royal blue cotton was the road kit of the Brazil National Team for a brief period in the early 1950's. Rarely seen, it remains a highly coveted style among vintage football collectors. The CBD (Confederação Brasileira de Desportos) crest applied to the left chest features the white Maltese cross with green, gold, and blue in the classic shield design of the era. Manufactured by Ceppo, the São Paulo-based apparel company's label appears inside the collar. A distinctive overlapping pattern of ribbed cream-colored fabric forms a V-shaped collar, with ribbed sleeve ends of the same color to match. The back displays Didi's number "8" in a creamy-white angular block numeral upon which he has signed his birthname and nickname in lovely blue ballpoint penmanship. The shirt exhibits ample evidence of match wear throughout, with pilling, stretching and puckering to the fabric. It remains in remarkable overall condition.

Authentication & Provenance
Letters of Authenticity from MEARS for the jersey and PSA/DNA for the autograph.
