Offered here is a museum-worthy piece that neatly encapsulates the link between Major League Baseball and the United States military services that dates back to the first world war. Major league ballplayers have a stored history of their participation in the country's wartime efforts from Christy Mathewson and Ted Williams to Warren Spahn and Bob Feller and beyond the two great institutions have been linked for a century with the lore and legend of both dramatically altered by many thousands of participants. With such a lofty introduction comes an impeccable U.S. All-Stars jersey and pants from the 1950's with that very same appellation found across the front of the shirt in an extremely heavy red and black felt that offers a raised presentation. Matching red and black piping adores the collar and button section (all six intact) and the sleeves; a large No. 22 appears on the back in the same red and black felt. Shirt has a Wilson Size 42 tag on the collar. All elements appear to be largely as-issued and problem-free. Accompanying heavy wool pants have Wilson tag at the back of the waist and attached "36" flag tag; pants reveal even more vivid game use than the jersey but also appears to be essentially as-issued and problem free. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Newport Sports Museum.
