It goes without saying that Marilyn Monroe is the most iconic film actress of all-time. Since her debut in the late 1940s, Marilyn Monroe has been the benchmark for beauty and the epitome of Hollywood glamour; her image alone is enough to serve as a visual representation of 1950s America. This elegant circa 1950 20th Century Fox studio portrait exquisitely captures Marilyn at the very height of her fame, her beauty elegantly emerging from carefully placed shadows and light, leaping from the printed sheet. To complete this beautiful portrait is Marilyn’s expressive blue pen signature along with a personalized message reading, “To Al Bacus, my deepest thanks and warmest regards.†The 8†x 10†piece has some light wear along the edges. The reverse is bare except for “witness original (illegible)†in black ink.
For sake of market value, a 14x11 signed personalized photo sold in August 2021 at auction for $63,000 without a graded a signature. While that one was a little larger in size, we believe this photo is every bit as perfect. This museum-worthy Marilyn Monroe is an absolute masterful studio portrait that is stunning in every way and has been encapsulated and graded a near-perfect Mint 9 by PSA.
