Featured here is a rare MacGregor leather helmet from the 1950s and 60s. It comes in dark brown/black with a cross-striped pattern on the exterior. The front displays a "MacGregor GoldSmith" crown logo. Size "6 7/8" is stamped on the rear. There are a dozen or so ventilation holes in the upper shell area. "75" is marked in red behind the left ear on the exterior. The original chinstrap is present with a still-functional snap button. The inside exhibits an 8-point crown suspension system with a roof pad marked "AIRLITE RUBBER PADDED CUSHION" plus another "AIRLITE" stamp on the leather interior. "75" is marked in black above the left ear which like the right has four designed holes for air and audio. It is so difficult to find a vintage helmet with all elements completely intact like this beauty which also shows plenty of gridiron use.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
