The Yankee Clippers Hillerich & Bradsby model D29L Joe DiMaggio professional model bat shows evidence of excellent use with a crack on the back barrel that has been professionally repaired. Some checking (grain swelling) from repeated ball contact is visible on the front barrel. Several ball marks are visible on the front and left barrel. Cleat marks are visible on all sides of the barrel. The model number (D29L) is stamped into the knob. The labeling period of this Joe DiMaggio professional model bat has been pinpointed to 1950 due to the appearance of ‹REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. under the center brand together with the letter style of ‹Powerized. Specifically the version of ‹Powerized on this DiMaggio bat appears in 1949 and 1950 and. ‹REG U.S. PAT. OFF. made its debut in 1950. The 36 inch 33.1 ounce ash bat retains excellent display quality with fine coloration and nice evident usage traits. Joe DiMaggio was simply the greatest all-around baseball player of his era which was the last before integration changed the complexion of the game in the 1950s. As a New York baseball legend DiMaggio succeeded superstars Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and preceded Mickey Mantle. In his 15 year career from 1935 to 1951 (which was interrupted by three years spent in the Army during World War Two from 1943-45) DiMaggio won three Most Valuable Player awards and was named to the All-Star team thirteen times. In an era of genuine heroes DiMaggio was the epitome of the genre. At the twilight of his career in 1950 he hit .301 with 32 homers and 122 RBIs in 139 games. Such was his unique status that he retired after a mediocre 1951 season in which he hit only .263 with 12 homers and 71 RBIs in 113 games. Joe DiMaggio did not want to become an average player playing out his string. He wanted to go out a champion and he did.

Includes a LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (Graded GU7).
