Extremely rare 1948 Kenny Rollins Kentucky Wildcat jersey game worn during their NCAA Basketball Championship season by the point guard. Rollins a member of Kentucky's "Fabulous Five" was voted to the All-SEC and All-SEC Tournament teams following his both his junior and senior seasons. He was also a member of the 1948 London Olympics gold Medal winning American squad. Drafted into the NBA following the 1948 season by the Ft Wayne Pistons he played 6 years professionally. White felt "KENTUCKY" and "26' sewn on the front. Large "26" in white felt sewn on the back. Jersey exhibits extremely heavy game use with some of the felt to the "6" on back missing. Jersey shrinkage is also very evident. Incredible piece of Kentucky Basketball history!
Included with the jersey is a 1946-47 Kentucky Wildcats team photo signed by Ralph Beard Alex Groza Wallace Jones Kenny Rollins Jim Line Cliff Barker Jack Tingle Buddy Parker Dale Barnstable Joe Holland coach Harry Lancaster and manager Humzey Yessin. Photo is 7 1/2" by 10" and unfortunately has been laminated. There is also an unsigned 1947-48 Kentucky Wildcats unsigned photo. Ashland complimentary photo measures about 10" by 13" and has also been laminated. Both photos were taken from a old scrap book and have period newspaper articles about the Wildcats on the other side of the page.
Letter from the Rollins family describing how Rollins' mother "fixed" the jersey(2nd "K" in "KENTUCKY" was misspelled with an "X") during the 1948 season. This repair can be seen on the jersey.
