In 1947, Major League Baseball changed for the better. This was the year baseball’s color barrier was broken by none other than standout African-American infielder Jackie Robinson, who was a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers. In that very first season, the Dodgers won 94 games to win the National League pennant as Robinson batted .297, scored 125 runs, stole 29 bases and was named the very first MLB Rookie of the Year award recipient. However, in the World Series, the Dodgers fell to the New York Yankees in seven games.
Presented here is a Dodgers team-signed baseball from that historic 1947 season.
