Nels Potter was a solid starter for many years in the National League and a key member of the Browns' one-and-only pennant-winning ball club in 1944 a year in which he went 19-7 with an ERA of 2.83 to help propel the Browns to a place they had never been before and would never be again. He ended his 12-year career with an overall 92-97 mark and 3.99 ERA. This uniform was worn by the hurler during the 1946 season: this striking wool zippered garment boasts the famed Browns text across the chest in brown-on-orange felt. Potter's No. 27 appears on the back in the same brown-on-orange felt; and the orange and brown piping on the collar button path and sleeves is in nothing less than sensational condition. Within the collar a Rawlings St. Louis local manufacturers label is accompanied by a Size 44 adjacent tag; "Potter" and "46" are elegantly stitched in brown on the front left tail. There are six holes (as tailored) under each arm to facilitate ventilation. The all-original garment shows good game use but is essentially problem free. The accompanying wool pants show similar wear with virtually no fraying of the orange and brown piping down each leg. The one-button zippered fly remains intact and working. On the back of the waistband a Rawlings St. Louis label appears with adjacent flag tag with "36"; "Kramer" is stitched in brown on a felt tag alongside (presumably Jack Kramer another member of the Browns pitching staff) and above is a washing instructions tag.
