Presented here is a 1941 Brooklyn Dodgers team-signed Official National League (Frick) baseball, notable for retaining its original Spalding packaging. The 1941 Dodgers captured the National League pennant, winning 100 games under manager Leo Durocher before falling to the New York Yankees in the World Series. The roster featured several standout players of the era, and Durocher served as clubhouse manager. Notable signatures include Hall of Famers Pee Wee Reese and Joe Medwick, as well as Chuck Dressen, Dolph Camilli, Pete Reiser, and Hugh Casey. Durocher's signature has been deemed clubhouse.
The survival of the original Spalding packaging alongside the ball is remarkable, adding a layer of provenance and display appeal rarely encountered with team-signed baseballs from this period. A wonderful artifact from one of Brooklyn's most successful pre-integration clubs.
