In 1940 the USC Trojans Mens Basketball team was coached by Sam Barry who was in his 11th season at the helm with the Trojans. Under his guidance the team finished the season with a 203 record and was named national champions by the esteemed Helms Athletic Foundation. This lot includes the Pacific Coast Championship Trophy that was awarded to Coach Justin Sam Berry at the conclusion of the 1939-40 season. The 15 trophy includes a basketball player standing atop a brass chalice thats situated on top of a wooden base.
Includes Letter of Provenance form the Newport Sports Museum.
