On June 21, 1939, after returning from a week-long examination at the Mayo Clinic, Gehrig revealed that he was suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and would never play baseball again. Offered is a stunning image of the team members posing in their road uniforms during what were certainly happier times. Gehrig and McCarthy are both here, along with a young Joe DiMaggio and the rest of the '39 squad. This 8 X 10 photo exhibits good clarity and is in excellent overall condition. The photo's back carries the stamp of New York Yankees photographer Cosmo-Sileo Co.
