Back in the 1930’s every three years was a great year to be a Cubs fan. The team won the pennant in 1929 1932 1935 and again in 1938. This Spalding Official National League Frick ball gathers 17 of the 1939 defending National League champs. Of fore-most interest is pitcher Dizzy Dean the NL’s last 30 game winner and in 1939 winding down his Hall of Fame career with the Cubs. Catcher and manager Gabby Hartnett has signed along with fellow Hall of Famer Billy Herman. Infielder Steve Mesner and pitcher Claude Passeau share the sweet spot. The Cubs have signed the ball in black fountain pen and the signatures display well against the lightly toned surface.
