Predating modern trading cards by decades, the 1937 Goudey "Thum-Movies" series turned baseball stars into flip-book animations housed in a charming movie-marquee-themed cover, complete with a mock two-cent admission price. This pairing features Bob Feller, the teenage pitching phenom of the Cleveland Indians captured "putting his hop on a fast one," and New York Giants slugger Mel Ott shown "putting it over the fence."

 

The Feller back notes his sensational rookie campaign and his tying of Dizzy Dean's modern strikeout record, while Ott's recounts his eighth consecutive 100-run season and 42 home runs in 1929 — a National League record at the time. Despite expected wear consistent with a product designed for repeated handheld use, both booklets remain complete and legible. A charming, historically significant pairing from one of the earliest and most inventive baseball collectible formats ever produced.
