Incredible 1932 Olympics scrap book put together during the time of the Games by a young attendee who came to know a number of the participants and obtained over 130 signatures of athletes from among the 37 nations competing in the Games. The vast majority are in very strong vintage blue & black ink or dark pencil. Would say that just about every one is identifiable and the vast majority have included their home country and event. Many have written inscriptions. The crown jewel of the book in a perfect 10 "Jim Thorpe 1936" autograph in vintage black ink alone on a page by itself surrounded by newspaper clippings showing event results. Close to 180 pages are literally covered with newspaper photos and clippings covering every imaginable aspect of the games. Also included are a few actual black and white photos with some Olympians posing for the camera. One page even has 4 event ticket stubs. Another has a small article of how the original owner received the very rare autograph of Prince Ferdinand von und Liechtenstein mentioning that the Prince never signed books. On the facing page is a newspaper clipping showing the Prince's castle. The book is a virtual labor of love about the 1932 Summer Olympics and is best summed up with words written by the person who put it together - "The important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win. But to take Part; The important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle; the essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well." One of a kind item!
