Presented here is an Olympic silver medal from the 1932 Los Angeles Summer Games. Only 320 silver medals were minted (same number of gold and bronze) making it a scarce find in the market. It is made of gilt silver and measures 55mm in diameter 4mm thick and weighs 69 grams. Designed by Giuseppe Cassioli the obverse features Nike Goddess of Victory seated above the stadium holding a winner's crown and palm branch with "Xth OLYMPIAD LOS ANGELES 1932" scripted on the right. The reverse shows a winner carried by jubilant athletes. Very well-preserved in both color and texture the medal presents in Near Mint condition with just a few minor rim nicks. Although the recipient and event are unknown (no 1932 gold silver or bronze medals provided this info) the medal survives as an extraordinary Olympic artifact rarely made available to the collecting public.
