Due to economic limitations brought on by the Great Depression, the 1932 Olympic hockey tournament featured only four national teams at the Winter Games in Lake Placid, New York. Canada won gold, but the U.S. put up a strong fight, losing in overtime in the gold medal game. Germany defeated Poland to take bronze. Forward Doug Everett starred for Team USA, scoring four goals in the team's six games. He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1974.
Offered here is Everett's 1932 Olympic silver medalist team ring likely issued to him around the time of his hockey HOF induction. The 10-karat gold ring has a large red stone at the center encircled by the words "U.S. Olympic Team 1932." Each shank features the U.S hockey shield logo with the Olympic motto "Citius Altius Fortius" underneath. One side has the five Olympic rings within the shield, while the other has "HOCKEY" inscribed. The interior band is hallmarked "Jostens 10K" along with Everett's initials "DNE." The size 9-1/2 ring weighs 24 grams. It shows evident wear with light scratches and dings. There is a tiny chip to the red stone on the face.
