Awesome 14K gold medal given to the 3rd Place finisher in the 1928 Boston Marathon. "AMERICAN MARATHON" on cross bar at top. Center has "1928" in gold on blue enamel above red white and blue enamel crossed flags. Bottom of medal reads "BOSTON ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION 1887" around a gold on blue enamel raised image of their unicorn logo. Back engraved "3RD PRIZE" and stamped "14K DIEGES & CLUST NY". Medal itself is 4.5 cm in diameter. AMERICAN MARATHON cross bar is 5.5 cm by 1 cm. Beautiful looking 14K gold medal!
