A spectacular and historically significant original 8x10 Type 1 team photograph of the legendary 1927 New York Yankees, widely regarded as the greatest baseball team of all time. This timeless image captures the core of the famed “Murderer’s Row” lineup including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Earle Combs, Bob Meusel and Mark Koenig, along with Hall of Fame manager Miller Huggins and the rest of the dominant Yankees roster that swept the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1927 World Series.

Pinpoint registration on each player's face makes this one of the finest Yankees team photos we've ever come across, let alone from the storied 1927 campaign. The classic mugs of Gehrig (standing, far left) and Ruth (standing, third from far left) are well-defined. Starting pitcher Urban Shocker whose surprising death the following year would shock the baseball world, is standing third from the far right. Hall of Fame hurlers Waite Hoyt and Herb Pennock are also pictured.

The 1927 Yankees season remains the gold standard in baseball lore: a 110–44 record, Ruth’s record-setting 60 home runs, and a lineup that overwhelmed opponents with unprecedented power and precision. Type 1 photos of this team are exceedingly scarce and remain among the most coveted among vintage baseball collectors.

As far as condition, it remains VG-EX overall with 1" of paper loss on lower right side surface, just below a seated Eddie Bennett, the beloved Yankee mascot. The upper right corner has a tear which has been taped on the reverse. The white borders remain clean and relatively unscathed. The reverse has the original caption slug with the names and locations of each player. Credit was given to Underwood & Underwood for this fine piece of photography. Authenticated by PSA/DNA as a Type 1, the composition and clarity are exceptional, showcasing the Yankees posed in full uniform and providing a definitive representation of baseball’s most revered dynasty.
