ADDENDUM: Please note that the style construction and Leacock distributor tagging this uniform features is consistent with known Cardinals jerseys from the 1920's however this jersey and pants lacks manufacturer's tagging seen in other known Cardinals exemplars from the period.

In 1923 and 1924 the St. Louis Cardinals were building a championship caliber team that would overtake the mighty Yankees in 1926 to win the World Series. Future Hall of Famers Jim Bottomley Rogers Hornsby and Jesse Haines were in place and once Branch Rickey would step aside for Hornsby to take the helm they would win it all. Offered is a rare 1923-24 St. Louis Cardinals complete game-used home jersey including shirt and pants. The jersey is dated to 1923-24 based on style features as well as the Leacock distributors tagging present in both garments. The jersey is completely original showing some fading and natural wear to the chenille stitch logo on the front and the piping along the sun collar sleeves and on the front just below the Cardinals bat logo. The Leacock tags on both the jersey and pants remain intact. Three if the four buttons on the front are present missing only the bottom one. The shirt measures to a size 42 and the pants to a size 32. Since this shirt pre-dates player numbers we may never know who once wore this spectacular gamer but it's certainly fun to speculate about Hall of Famers like Bottomley or Hornsby who conceivably fit the bill wearing this classic in the heyday of the National League in the 1920's.
