The 1926 and 1928 World Series both pitted Babe Ruth's Yankees against Grover Cleveland Alexander's Cardinals in a battle for baseball's top prize. That convergence of the greatest slugger and arguably greatest pitcher of the era is the likely source of this extraordinary dual signed baseball. Other characteristics such the apparent bat mark and red paint transfer and it being an ONL (Heydler) ball suggests the ball likely saw action at Sportsman's Park during one of the aforementioned Fall Classics. The Babes sweet spot autograph endures at a resounding 9/10 level and Old Petes signature on the south panel rates at a similar level. Though several surviving balls from the 1939 opening of the Hall of Fame bear the autographs of each of these storied superstars in other company this could very well be the only dual-signed example on the face of the earth. As fate would have it its rarity is commensurate with its superb condition.
