In 1919 the Cincinnati Reds won the National League pennant before beating the A.L. Champion Chicago White Sox five games to three in the World Series. Prior to the start of the World Series on Sept. 27 1919 a special dinner was held to salute the National League Champions at the Hotel Gibson in Cincinnati. Several dignitaries were on hand that evening including Ohio Governor James M. Cox National League President John F. Heydler and American League President B.B. Johnson. This was the foot-shaped five-page heavyweight paper dinner program that was handed out to those in attendance that night. The unusually shaped program even includes an entire page of head shots featuring the team members of the 1919 Cincinnati Reds. The back of the program includes three special autographs in pencil from the last living survivors of the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings baseballs first openly all-professional team with 10 salaried players: Cal McVey George Wright and Oak Taylor. An extremely rare program made all the more so by the addition of signatures from these baseball pioneers. Measures nine inches tall. Pages have loosened from string binding at top but all are present and accounted for.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.

Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
