This lot features an aged flannel baseball jersey stemming from the 1917 Yale University baseball squad. Still in remarkably good condition the gray flannel boasts seven of its original buttons and reads “1917” across the front in four-inch tall blue felt numbers that are sewn directly into the jersey. On the inside rear collar of the A.G. Spalding manufactured jersey rests proper tagging as well as the last name “Rutherford” in faded red chain stitching. Some slight bleeding from the blue numbers exists on the front but other than that the jersey remains in terrific shape. Having produced famous ball players from former U.S. President George H.W. Bush to former Mets starter Ron Darling the Yale University Bulldogs have a rich and storied baseball tradition in the prestigious Ivy League.
