Not to be overlooked from the Yahtzee Box Find is this nice trio of cards from the Collins-McCarthy Co. In 1917, the candy company based in San Francisco -- the same one that produced the sweet Zee-Nut popcorn snack through which the popular 1911-38 PCL card series was distributed (see Lots 20-25) -- released its own brand-named E135 set of 200 black-and-white cards measuring 2" by 3-1/4". The holy grail is Babe Ruth's second-year issue (#151) followed by Joe Jackson (#82), Rogers Hornsby's official RC (#80), Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner. The first two listed below are also enshrined in Cooperstown. All three cards are the non-blank back versions and each grades PSA PR 1 with very little competition in the PSA Pop Report.
Card #46 of Urban "Red" Faber -- ace starting pitcher for the notorious 1919 White Sox who did not get caught up in the Black Sox scandal -- shows up only three times in the Pop Report. One of those is a blank back version. This one with the manufacturer printed on the back has only been authenticated twice before by PSA (PR 1 and GD+ 2.5). It has some major condition issues, but is completely intact with no paper loss and the image remains clear.
Card #113 of legendary N.Y. Giants manager John McGraw is just as beat up, but again totally intact with a good-looking image. And like Faber, only one blank bank and two with the maker on the reverse show up in the pop report (PR 1 and VG 3).
Card #152 of Frank "Wildfire" Schulte -- star outfielder for the 2-time World Champion Cubs, 1911 NL MVP and 2-time HR champ -- appears in much better shape to us, with more wrinkles than creasing and smoother edges. But we'll let you be the judge. Like the other two, it has a total population of two in this version (PR 1 and EX 5).
