The Boston Red Sox made history by winning three championships in four years between 1915 and 1918, with legendary Babe Ruth leading the charge during his early years in the major leagues. In 1916, the team boasted a remarkable 91-63 record and secured victory in a thrilling five-game World Series against the Brooklyn Robins.

Notably, the concept of championship rings to commemorate World Series triumphs emerged in 1922, eventually becoming the standard tradition by 1926. Prior to this evolution, players were often rewarded with pendants and watch fobs as tokens of their success.

One such rare relic from the Red Sox's 1916 triumph is a meticulously crafted championship watch. This Gruen-manufactured pocket watch features elegant Roman numerals marking the hours and bears the inscription "1916 WORLD'S CHAMPIONS" encircling a baseball diamond on its back. Inside the gold cover, the name "Forrest L Cady" and the maker's mark "GRUEN NAT'L WCC 14 K 401173" are intricately engraved, adding a personalized touch to this historic timepiece.

While minor signs of aging are visible, the watch has stood the test of time, maintaining its vintage charm in excellent condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the Cady family, this remarkable artifact serves as a tangible link to a bygone era of baseball excellence, capturing the spirit of a team that etched its name in the annals of sporting greatness.
