1915 Western Amateur Golf Championship "Low Qualifying Score" Sterling Silver Trophy presented to leader Paul M. Hunter. Dr. Paul Hunter was a prolific amateur golfer in the 1920s who captured his share of tournament trophies. The only five-time SCGA Amateur champion (1908 1909 1921 1924 and 1926) Hunter was also the California Amateur Champion in 1920 and 1921. Of the thousands of golfers who have competed in SCGA and USGA tournaments a handful stand above the rest. The first of those was Dr. Paul Hunter. Three handled 8 1/2" trophy engraved "Western Amateur Championship 1915 Low Qualifying Score Won by Paul M. Hunter". Bottom stamped "STERLING a6805 8 3/8 fine". Trophy still in very nice condition.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
