Offered is one of the key cards from the elusive 1911 T205 Gold Border tobacco issue that remains one of the most challenging to collect in optimal condition. The Ty Cobb featured here displays extremely well with a crystal clear image of the greatest pure hitter in baseball history. The gold borders are very well-preserved compared to most with just slight chipping on the corners. Centering is 55-45 horizontally, but very balanced vertically. The Piedmont back has some spot toning that may account for the VG-EX+ 4.5 grade by BVG. Otherwise, it appears EX 5 or better in terms of frontal eye appeal. Pre-dating his T206 issues, the T205 Cobb continues to be an underrated gem in the hobby as both as an investment and keepsake.
