This 1909-11 T206 Christy Mathewson "Dark Cap" grades SGC 1.5 FR, issued by Sweet Caporal Cigarettes as part of the famed New Base Ball Series 350-460 Subjects. The card depicts Mathewson in a three-quarter pose gripping the ball with both hands, dark cap pulled low, set against the period's signature blue-to-green graduated sky and bright green field. A noticeable printed-paper crease runs diagonally across the upper portion of the card through the sky, with associated minor surface loss, and there is light soiling near the lower right of the image — the wear consistent with the FR 1.5 grade.

 

The reverse carries the classic red Sweet Caporal Cigarettes advertising back, "The Standard for Years," fully intact and legible. Encapsulated by SGC with clear, sharp labeling. A recognizable Hall of Fame subject from one of the hobby's cornerstone tobacco issues, honestly graded for its era and condition.
