Outstanding condition NM GAI 7 Cap Anson from the extremely beautiful 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter World's Champions tobacco issue features sharp color with a superior picture image. Well centered card is very clean card both front and back with NM overall corners. Anson was the premier player of 19th Century baseball. The slugging first baseman-manager of the Chicago White Stockings batted better than .300 nineteen times in his 22 year major league career leading his team to 15 first division finishes and 5 National League Championships. When he retired in 1897 he was the first player to amass 3000 hits and stood atop the record books in numerous other statistical categories including games at-bats doubles RBI's and runs scored. GAI holder has a small vertical crease almost exactly in line with Anson's bat. The key card from one of the most eye appealing 19th Century sets ever produced featuring the marquee player of his generation!
