Chance here to double dip in notable 19th-century American royalty with a splendid carte de visite (CDV) of the famed Civil War General Abner Doubleday who as it turns out was a prominent figure in American history even if he didn't actually invent the game of baseball as is loosely proffered in Cooperstown lore and legend. The 2 3/8-by-5 7/8-inch CDV is in wonderful condition and nicely displayed in an SGC Authentic holder. A marvelous Doubleday signature graces the back of the CDV along with several notations by the general concerning his current rank place of birth and details concerning his ascension through the ranks in the Army.

Includes a full LOA from JSA.
