On Oct. 24 1999 the great Jerry Rice caught a pass in his 200th straight NFL game further extending an unfathomable record that began Dec. 1 1985 during his rookie season. The record would finally end at 274 games on Sept. 19 2004 almost 20 years later! The next closest on the list is Marvin Harrison with 190. I think the record is safe.

Playing in a 10/24/1999 away game versus the Minnesota Vikings the 49ers were defeated 40-16 but Rice still had a nice game hauling in five catches for 45 yards. This lot features the painted milestone game ball awarded to Rice following that defeat. Unfortunately there are no game photos of Rice available online. The shot of Vikings QB Jeff George shows a similar looking ball. Mistakenly christened with the moniker "TOUCHDOWN BALL" (Rice did not score that day) the painted football is properly identified with Rices full name and "200th Consecutive game with a Catch" across the single painted panel. The official Wilson football includes the date site ("HHH Metrodome") and both the 49ers and Viking helmets painted on it.

From the collection of the late Dave Rahn (pictured with Rice) the 49ers' Director of Operations for 16 years. Includes LOA from his wife.

From 1986-2002 Dave Rahn served an integral role within the San Francisco 49ers organization. Starting as a public relations and media coordinator he soon took over as director of travel and team services where he was responsible for all football operations including travel and accommodations practice schedules lodging and meal planning. He later managed the concert tours for Fleetwood Mac Sheryl Crow and Lionel Richie. In 2014 Dave Rahn passed away after a courageous 2-year battle with cancer. "He was like a wheel and all these spokes from those years came from him" said his close friend former linebacker Gary Plummer. "He kept the 49ers family from those times together." His collection includes dozens of 49ers game-worn and autographed items gifted by the many players and staff members who were loyal friends to Dave and will forever remain close to his loving family.
