A cornerstone of the Chargers' defense for 13 seasons, Junior Seau anchored the middle of San Diego's defense with a rare blend of speed, instinct, and relentless energy that made him one of the most feared linebackers of his generation. Offered here is a game-worn jersey worn by Seau on October 13, 2002, when the Chargers edged the Kansas City Chiefs 35-34 in a back-and-forth shootout during Seau's 12th consecutive Pro Bowl season and, unbeknownst to anyone at the time, his final year in a Chargers uniform. (He would be traded to the Miami Dolphins that offseason.)
Conclusively photo-matched to this specific game by Resolution Photomatching, the white road model jersey made by Reebok bears Seau's name on the upper back in navy blue tackle twill letters, with his iconic uniform number "55" on the front, back, and sleeves in navy blue outlined in white and yellow. The shoulders have the patented Bolts logo and the sleeve ends are custom hemmed to Seau's liking. Properly tagged within the collar with a "02-50" year and size strip tag, the mesh knit jersey has an additional Reebok label on the front left tail with "6" L.B." and size "50" flag tags. The jersey exhibits evidence of solid game wear with contact marks on the left shoulder and back numbers; it appears to have been washed post-use.
