The late Gerald R. Ford served as the 38th President of the United States. He had been the first Vice President chosen under theterms of the Twenty-fifth Amendment and in the aftermath of the Watergate scandal was succeeding Richard M. Nixon the first President ever to resign. When he took the oath of office on August 9 1974 he declared: "I assume the Presidency under extraordinary circumstances. This is an hour of historythat troubles our minds and hurts our hearts."
This lot features a beautifully matted and framed typed letter and original mailing envelope from the former POTUS in 1982 six years after he left the office. Dated January 25 1982 the typed letter on his personalletterhead includes information regarding two stamp sets that were donated to thePresident Ford Museum by a gentleman named Charley Montroll from Chevy Chase Maryland. Ford signed the letter with a large signature in fine-point marker that gradesa perfect 10. Included in the display which measures 16.5” wide by 34” high is the original envelope with Ford’s facsimile signature that was sent to Mr. Montroll by the former POTUS as well as a rounded portrait of Ford. The bottom of the display includes an engraved gold plaque that reads: “Gerald R. Ford (1913-) Thirty Eighth President of the United States.” The letter has one center fold and is in near-mint condition.Includes LOA from JSA.Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
