Zelmo Beaty arguably the Utah Stars' greatest player will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame later this year. A undersized center Beaty was the MVP of the ABA playoffs the year the Utah Stars won the ABA Championship in 1971. "Big Z" also played for the St. Louis and Atlanta Hawks and was a 2-time NBA All-Star. Prior to that he averaged 25 points and 20 rebounds at Prairie View A&M. He was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. Beaty passed away in 2013 at the age of 73.
Presented here is Zelmo Beaty's 10k white gold 1971 Utah Stars ABA Championship Ring. The ring features a .40 round-cut diamond on the face along with the proclamation "Utah Stars ABA Champions". One shank reads "BEATY 31 ABA" while the other shank features the Utah Stars logo above an engraved image of the Salt Palace above "1971". "BALFOUR 10K" is stamped on the inside of the ring. The ring is in near mint condition and is accompanied by an authentication analysis certificate from a GIA certified jeweler as well as a Letter of Authenticity from Ann Beaty the widow of the ABA Legend. This is an exceptionally rare ring the likes of which seldom surface from any team personnel. The offered example having belonged to "Big Z" the cornerstone piece to the 1971 championship team is a true basketball treasure.
