The great Willie Mays known as “The Say Hey Kid” was the longtime center fielder for the New York and then-San Francisco Giants who launched a total of 660 home runs during the course of his 22-year MLB career. This lot features a Willie Mays autographed Mitchell & Ness New York Giants rookie replica jersey commemorating the 1951 season. The gray flannel jersey which includes the Cooperstown Collection Mitchell & Ness manufacturer’s tag on the left front tail reads “NEW YORK” across the front in black felt lettering outlined in orange with the Giants iconic orange-and-black piping outlining the collar and both sleeves. Mays trademark uniform number “24” adorns the back of the jersey in black felt numbers outlined in orange that stretch eight inches tall. Mays signed the front of the jersey on the left chest in black marker.
