In the peculiarly flawed conventional wisdom of the period major colleges who courted Warren Moon in the mid-1970's wanted to convert him to play another position a fairly common maneuver when recruiting black quarterbacks but Moon's insistence on being a quarterback led him to West Los Angeles College. This spectacular 1974 College Letterman jacket heralded the first glimpses of an extraordinary talent who would wind up winning hall of fame laurels in two countries before it was over. The Size 44 jacket a combination of woolleather and knit trim is in marvelous condition despite its four decades. It carries tagging of Whiting of Los Angeles on the collar; all elements of the jacket appear to be largely problem-free with no discernible fraying of the knitted sections on waist sleeves or collar. A large chenille gold "W" is similarly imposing with only light fraying of some of the blue or white background stitching and not a whisper of difficulty with the ultra-rare "Harold Moon" embroidering that appears above it. Similarly elaborate embroidery on the facing panel details "Western States Conference Champs '74 W.S.C. Player of the Year H.M. All State - All American." The light cream leather sleeves are surprisingly devoid of problems given the susceptibility to showing dirt or wear. Moon's No. 16 is embroidered in blue-and-gold chenille on the left sleeve with only a bit of stitch fraying visible from the background cream-colored "16." Beneath the number Moon has scripted an elegant blue Sharpie autograph adding his uniform No. 16 below it.

LOA from Warren Moon.
