Erected in 1937 in Buffalo New York what was to become "War Memorial Stadium" was called by three different names before settling in with the battle-themed moniker in 1960. From that year until 1972 the poorly maintained venue (derisively dubbed "The Rockpile") was home to the AFL's and NFL's Buffalo Bills. Additionally the site served as home to all but one baseball scene in the 1984 production of "The Natural" and was a minor league baseball facility until its demolition in 1988. Offered here is a single seat that was once employed at the downtown Buffalo ballpark. Sturdy metal framework with armrests houses a three-panel wooden back rest and a five-panel folding wooden seat. As expected the Buffalo elements have taken their toll with a layer of gray/green paint worn in areas revealing a prior coat of blue. The weathered nature of the seat elements have not diminished its sturdiness rather it presents great vintage character.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
