This incredible run of 23 team signed baseballs from Walter Alston’s personal collection represents every season of Alston’s tenure as manager of the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers (1954-1975). The mostly high-grade run includes:
1954 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed ONL (Giles) Baseball. 22 blue ink signatures (average 8-9/10) on near white ball incl. Robinson Campanella Hodges Alston Podres Newcombe etc. The signatures of Lasorda Reese Snider Hughes Roe and Palica have been deemed clubhouse by PSA/DNA. Ball demonstrates a NM appearance overall.
1955 Brooklyn Dodgers (World Champions) Team Signed ONL (Giles) Baseball. 22 blue ink signatures (average 8-9/10) on minimally toned ball incl. Robinson Koufax Reese Alston Podres Kellert etc. Campanella is absent and Snider Meyer and Furillo have been deemed clubhouse by PSA/DNA. Ball demonstrates a very high-grade appearance overall with a few scattered spot stains.
1956 Brooklyn Dodgers (NL Champions) Team Signed ONL (Giles) Baseball. 29 blue ink signatures (average 8-9/10) on an off-white ball incl. Koufax Snider Alston Durocher Drysdale Davis Gilliam etc. The ball is free of any clubhouse signatures according to PSA/DNA. Ball demonstrates an exceptional EX/MT-NM appearance overall with moderate bleeding of signatures.
All of the remaining balls (1964-1975) are all official NL balls with minimal to no toning or wear and mostly bold signatures. All of these balls are free of clubhouse signatures with the exception of 1965 (Roseboro) 1971 (Gilliam) and 1972 (Davis).
The entire lot is pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Includes a letter of provenance from the Alston family.
