This is an absolutely extraordinary grouping of unusual memorabilia items from the personal collection of the Los Angeles Dodgers' Hall of Fame manager Walt Alston pieces that he acquired to commemorate the ball clubs' historic National League pennants and World Series triumphs in the 1950's and 1960's with virtually each and every item in simply sensational condition. We'll start with as nice a grouping of the 8 ½-inch National League Mini Pennants as you will ever see essentially Near-Mint or even better and seemingly having been put away and left untouched for a half century or more. All eight National League teams are represented in the unique fashion with the pennants linked by a black felt "spine" that connects each and extends another six inches top and bottom. It's difficult to imagine finding these rare pennants in such remarkable condition with the screened-on printing and team logos in perfect shape unblemished and without any loss of color intensity and the pennants themselves pristine right down to the razor-sharp points at the end of the pennants.
The Mini Dodger Pennant Flags are even rarer and more unusual especially in such fine condition. The 6-inch flags are printed in Dodger Blue and (one flag) also in red on an extremely delicate silk-like fabric that is so fine it's a bit translucent. Each flag is on a 10-inch plastic gold-painted flagpole with ornate sharp point at the top. One flag commemorates "World Champions Dodgers - 1959-1963-1965" in two colors while the other two note the team name and 1963 and 1965 World Champions. All elements are in seemingly as-issued and problem-free prompting much difficulty in imagining finding other specimens in matching condition.
The final component of the lot is a similarly outstanding grouping of ticket stubs (17) again from Alston's personal collection with most connected to World Series contests managed by the Hall of Fame skipper. Here's the breakdown: 1) 1955 World Series Game 1 at Yankee Stadium - Ex-Mt; 2) 1955 World Series Game 1 at Yankee Stadium - Poor; 3) 1956 World Series Game 1 President's Box at Ebbets Field - Fair (writing of "Mr. Alston" at top); 4) 1956 World Series Game 2 at Ebbets Field - Ex-Mt; 5) 1956 World Series Game 3 at Yankee Stadium - Very Good; 6) 1956 World Series Game 4 at Yankee Stadium - Good; 7) 1959 World Series Game 5 at Coliseum - Ex-Mt; 8) 1961 World Series Game 3 at Crosley Field - Good; 9) 1963 World Series Game 1 at Yankee Stadium - Very Good; 10) 1963 World Series Game 4 at Dodger Stadium - Ex-Mt; 11) 1963 World Series Game 4 at Yankee Stadium - Good; 12) 1974 World Series full ticket Game 2 at Dodger Stadium - Very Good; 13) 1974 World Series full ticket Game 3 at Oakland - Good; 14) 1974 World Series full ticket Game 3 at Oakland - Good; 15) 1974 League Championship Series full ticket Game 3 at Dodger Stadium - Excellent; (16) 1976 World Series full ticket Game 1 at Riverfront Stadium - Ex-Mt; 17) and a 1966 Dodgers Tour of Japan - Excellent. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Family of Walter Alston.
