The 1971 MLB All-Star Game was played on July 13 at Tiger Stadium in Detroit. IN a hotly contested battle the American League All-Stars managed by Earl Weaver outlasted their N.L. counterparts 6-4. Although Johnny Bench Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente all launched home runs for the National League the A.L. squad hung on behind timely two-run homers belted by both Reggie Jackson and Frank Robinson. Robinson was named the game's MVP.
This lot features National League Coach Walter Alston's ring from this memorable Mid-Summer Classic. The unique jewelry boasts a beautiful blue/purple looking stone on top of a silver ring with no markings of any kind on either sides. Inside of the band is engraved with "1971 All-Star Game W.A." in script and stamped "14K O-S" on one side and "LX"(X has a vertical line down the center of it) on the other. Ring size is 12 while the weight is 16 grams.
