This is an intriguing array of items from the personal collection of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Hall of Fame manager Walt Alston items seemingly pulled directly from the clubhouses in Brooklyn and later at Chavez Ravine and preserved by the Hall of Fame manager and his family for a half century afterwards. The Dodger Blue equipment bag shows considerable use but remains in outstanding condition with “Dodgers” and Alston’s No. 24 heat-screened on each end and a hand-printed “24” on a team label affixed to one side. The seams and edges of the bag show wear but there are no particular problems apparent and no indications of alteration of any description. Included in the bag are about a dozen white undershirts many with Alston’s famed No. 24 hand-printed in marker at the collar and several Dodger Blue undershirts with embroidered “24” in white included along with several stirrup socks and belts all of which show game use but show no visible defects or problems. This is truly an extraordinary personal lot of material linked directly to one of the greatest managers in Major League Baseball history.
